CHI Health Host FREE Stop the Bleed Training-May 8

KEARNEY & GRAND ISLAND-The number one cause of preventable death after injury is blood loss. Serious accidents and disasters resulting in life-threatening bleeding can happen anywhere. Without bystander intervention, death from blood loss takes less than five minutes.

CHI Health, in conjunction with the Nebraska Community Collective, encourages everyone to know what to do during a bleeding emergency.

Good Samaritan and St. Francis Emergency Services personnel are hosting a free STOP THE BLEED® Training Day Open House for the public on Wednesday, May 8. With just 15-minutes of training, the community can learn to recognize life-threatening bleeding and effectively control it with three quick action steps–using their hands to apply pressure to a wound, packing a wound to control bleeding and correctly applying a tourniquet. At the open house, training participants will also have the opportunity to register for a free kit containing bleeding-control medical supplies.
