
Car Observed in L.E. Ray Park After Hours Leads to Arrest

(Grand Island, NE) - On March 17th at 11:57 pm a GIPD Officer observed a black Mazda 3 in L.E. Ray park after the curfew at 2300 hours, which is a city violation. The officer then stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Corey Simmons. A records check of Simmons showed that he had two Hall County Warrants for his arrest. When Simmons exited the vehicle, GIPD Officer observed an open container of whiskey under the driver's seat. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted after Simmons was placed into custody. During the search, a flask with alcohol in it was located, along with used syringes. A coke can made to conceal items was located and a baggie of a controlled substance was then located in the coke can. Located in the trunk of the vehicle were three handguns that were also loaded. Simmons is listed as a prohibited person to possess firearms due to him being a fugitive of justice.
Simmons was arrested on two Hall County Warrants, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Transport Open Container.
