14 LBs of Marijuana, Mushrooms Found in I-80 Traffic Stop

FEBRUARY 13, 2024 (GRAND ISLAND, NEB.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Lincoln man after locating multiple controlled substances during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Wood River.

At approximately 5:55 p.m. Monday, a trooper observed an eastbound GMC Terrain speeding on I-80 near mile marker 301. During the traffic stop, the trooper saw a THC product in plain view.

A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 11 pounds of marijuana, approximately 3 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, and nearly 300 grams of THC products. The mushrooms and marijuana were concealed in a suitcase in the rear of the vehicle.

The driver, Avery Wayman, 28, of Lincoln, was arrested for possession of marijuana – more than one pound and possession of a controlled substance. He was lodged in Hall County Jail.
