2025 Nebraska Wind & Solar Conference

Lincoln State News

The 18th Annual Nebraska Wind & Solar Conference will open Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel, bringing together energy leaders, policymakers, developers, and researchers to discuss the state’s growing renewable energy sector. Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the two-day event, which will feature keynote speakers, in-depth policy discussions, and timely conversations about Nebraska’s clean-energy future.

This year’s conference will highlight Nebraska’s leadership in renewable energy development and the challenges and opportunities of integrating more wind and solar resources into the state’s public power system. The agenda features a range of panels covering grid reliability, economic development, project investment, community engagement, and energy storage.

Key sessions include the Nebraska Public Power Utilities CEO Luncheon, featuring Tom Kent of the Nebraska Public Power District, Javier Fernandez of the Omaha Public Power District, and Emeka Anyanwu of Lincoln Electric System. Other highlights include a Policy and Legislative Update with State Senators George Dungan III, Tom Brandt, Dan Quick, and Stan Clouse, moderated by Conference Chair John Hansen. The Keynote Luncheon, titled “Pragmatism in the States,” will be delivered by JC Sandberg, Chief Advocacy Officer of the American Clean Power Association.

Attendees will also hear from experts such as Scott Benson (LES), Jon Sunneberg (NPPD), and Lauren Sher (NextEra Energy) on battery storage projects; Carol Waszak (OPPD), Eric Johnson (Sandhills Energy), and Chris Cook (ISI Solar) on market trends and investment strategies; and representatives from Mission Clean Energy, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Wayne on how renewable projects can drive local growth.

Media covering the conference will have access to all sessions, exhibits, and networking opportunities, with interview coordination available for speakers and panelists upon request. To obtain press credentials or schedule interviews, please contact Anita Scheuler at [email protected] or 402-304-2790.
