#10 Creighton Volleyball Outlasts Pepperdine
OMAHA, Neb. – Fifth-year Katie Dalton had a double-double and senior Saige Damrow served up a season-high five aces as the No. 10 Creighton Volleyball team outlasted Pepperdine in four sets during its second match of the Bluejay Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Scores of the match in favor of CU were 25-22, 17-25, 25-18, 25-16, as the Bluejays improved to 4-1 on the year while dropping the visiting Wave to 3-2.
Junior Trinity Shadd-Ceres paced the Bluejays attack for the third straight match, finishing with 14 kills and seven digs, while sophomore Abbey Hayes collected 11 kills and eight digs of her own. Ayden Ames added nine kills on .400 hitting with Eloise Brandewie notching nine kills and a match-high four blocks. Running the Creighton offense was Dalton, who had 42 assists and 14 digs for her third double-double of the season. Damrow topped the Bluejay defense with 15 digs while serving a season-high five aces. CU closed the match with 53 kills, 10 aces, 58 digs and seven blocks on .265 hitting.
Pepperdine was led by a match-high 15 kills from Chloe Pravednikov, while Maggie Beauer had 11 kills. Mariia Nikol Dvornikova added a match-high 19 digs with Laine Briggs following closely behind with 18 digs of her own. The Wave had 47 kills, four aces, 70 digs and four blocks on .218 hitting.
Creighton closes play at the Bluejay Invitational on Sunday inside D.J. Sokol Arena against Tulsa at 3 p.m. The Golden Hurricane are 5-0 after sweeping Arizona (29-27, 25-16, 25-18) in Saturday's second contest. Arizona and Pepperdine will open Sunday's action at 12 p.m.
NOTES: Creighton is now 2-0 all-time against Pepperdine, with both wins coming in four sets at the Bluejay Invitational (also Sept. 12, 2014) ...
