Application open for inaugural ‘Emerging Visions’ high school art show, scholarship opportunity

Hastings College

(Hastings, Nebraska) – High school juniors and seniors with a passion for the visual arts are invited to submit their work to the inaugural “Emerging Visions” juried art exhibition at Hastings College. The showcase offers young artists a platform to display their talent, gain professional gallery experience and earn significant scholarships.

Participating seniors also have the opportunity to be considered for the Jackson Scholars program, which includes a full ride Hastings College scholarship that covers tuition, room, meals and fees.

The deadline for submissions to the “Emerging Visions” exhibition is October 15. Students can submit up to three works for consideration. The online application form and complete submission guidelines are available now at hastings.edu/juriedshow.

The show will be on display from November 14 through December 13 in the renowned Jackson Dinsdale Art Center on the Hastings College campus.

“We are thrilled to launch ‘Emerging Visions’ and provide a new opportunity to celebrate the artistic talent of high school students,” said Jerome Dubas, instructor of art and gallery director. “This event gives students a chance to have their work recognized and also connects them with our faculty and the arts community at Hastings College.”

A panel of Hastings College art professors will jury the exhibition and award scholarships to top artists. Awards include:

Best of Show: $11,000 scholarship
2D Award of Merit: $9,000 scholarship
3D Award of Merit: $9,000 scholarship

Seniors wishing to be considered for the full ride Jackson Scholars award must indicate their interest on the application. Interviews for the program will be scheduled for qualified applicants.

A closing reception will be held at the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center on Saturday, December 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 3 p.m.
