Applications being taken for trail grants

Nebraska Game and Parks

Applications from municipalities and other organizations interested in 2026 Recreational Trails Program grants are being accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Applications will be accepted May 4 through noon Central time Aug. 21.

The Recreational Trails Program is for motorized or non-motorized trails, covering acquisition, development, maintenance, equipment, trail-related support facilities and education programs.

RTP helps communities reach their outdoor recreation trail goals by providing reimbursable grants with an 80% match component. Eligible applicants include villages, cities, public power districts, natural resources districts, state agricultural societies, and tribal entities.

Grants recommended for approval will be announced at the January 2027 Commission meeting.

For more information on RTP and to apply for the grants, visit OutdoorNebraska.gov and search for “RTP.”

Game and Parks is unveiling a new grant management portal for RTP and Land and Water Conservation Fund grants.

Participate in an introduction webinar at 11 a.m. Central on April 30 for this intuitive portal and learn the registration and application process.

Register for the webinar at: OutdoorNebraska.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_qzE73RWvR0K_cMwxDnRyHQ#/registration.

The demonstration will take around 30 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer period. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the RTP and LWCF webpages the week after. Visit
