Bison snap losing streak vs Wildcats
The St. Paul Wildcat Volleyball team rolled out an all-healthy lineup for the first time in 2024 as they hit the road to Central City for a date with the Lou Platte Conference rival Bison.
The Cats got off to a quick start behind Junior Katie Oakley and many of her17 kills on the night as they took an early 2-0 lead winning 25-22,25-20.
The Cats came close in the 3rd to whipping out the brooms as they led the frame after a late rally to tie and take the lead at 25-24. Central City rallied on their own to come away winners in the 3rd at 27-25.
Central City took that 3rd set momentum and carried it behind Sophomore Hope Paup cashing in a 25-14 4th set to force a race to 15 and a 5th decisive set tied at 2 sets apiece.
The Bison roared off to a 5-0 start before St. Paul got their first side out but the damage was already done as Central City took the 5th 15-6 for the reverse sweep victory.
Central City(15-5) with the win snapped an 18 year streak to the Wildcats as St. Paul(8-13) won the last 23 matches. The last time Central City beat St. Paul was 9/26/2006.
The Cats will have a week off before facing off against Columbus Lakeview on 10/8. The match can be heard live on Country 96.
