Omaha, Neb. -- Behind a masterful performance from ace Jack Pineau, Creighton Baseball notched its first shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over Seton Hall on Friday, April 10. The win pushed the Bluejays to 16-15 on the season and 2-2 in BIG EAST action, while Seton Hall fell to 11-14 overall and 0-4 in conference contests.

Pineau moved to 4-1 on the season, tossing six innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts. He limited the Pirates to just four hits and one walk, tossing 106 pitches. Seton Hall starter Steven Svenson took the loss (1-3), allowing four runs on five hits and a walk in 3.1 frames.

After Pineau stranded a pair of Pirates in the top of the first, Nate McHugh put Creighton in front with a solo shot over the right-center field wall. Later in the frame Ben North singled, stole second and scored on a bloop double from Isaac Wachsmann.

North and Wachsmann teamed up again in the fourth as North drew a leadoff walk and was along for the ride as Wachsmann bounced a home run off the top of the wall in left.

Creighton added an insurance run in the eighth as Chris Baillargeon drove in Wachsmann with an RBI single.

Relievers Jimmy Burke and Eli Nissen recorded the final nine outs for the Bluejays to secure the shutout win.

The Bluejays and Pirates continue their three-game series on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 pm.
