Buffalo County Register of Deeds Passes Away

It is with sorrow that the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners announces the passing of Kellie S. John, the Buffalo County Register of Deeds. Kellie John passed away on February 21, 2026, at her home following a battle with cancer.

Kellie was a long-time public servant who took great pride in Buffalo County and its citizens. She was in her seventh term, having taken office in 1999. She had been an employee of Buffalo County for over 52 years. As Kellie would have wanted, the business of the Register of Deeds continues with her deputy, Jen Schleusener acting in her place, pursuant to Nebraska Statute.
