Cats get first win; Split weekend in North Platte
Following a tough loss at York the day before, the St. Paul/Palmer Cats back in action Saturday at North Platte for a doubleheader vs Maxwell/North Platte St. Pats and Lincoln Christian in a rematch of the State Tournament.
In Game One vs Lincoln Christian, both teams plated three runs with the Cat's coming off the bat of Christian Lemburg for the Peru St. signee's first homer of the season. The two teams traded a scoreless second inning before the Crusaders busted the contest open scoring a combined 6 runs between the third and sixth inning to take a 9-3 lead.
St. Paul/Palmer's final run came off an error by the third baseman scoring Zandyn Weller as the Cats fall to 0-2 losing 9-4
The Cats had nine hits giving up 2 errors while Lincoln Christian had 11 hits with 1 error.
The second game for St. Paul/Palmer saw 18 runs over four innings against Maxwell/North Platte St. Pats with eight extra base knocks off of 15 hits enroute to an 18-1 victory to get their first win of the season. The Cats needed only 78 pitches between Zandyn Weller and Carter Hawley to get the victory.
The Cats(1-2) have four games this week with trips to Holdrege on Tuesday, Hastings on Thursday vs Adams Central, and their first home games of the year with a triangular vs Seward and Aurora on Saturday.
