Cats hang tough; Fall to Broken Bow 36-23


St Paul Football

The St. Paul Wildcats and the Broken Bow Indians entered Week 3 winless in St. Paul Friday Night. After 48 minutes of hard fought football the Indians used a 14-3 4th Quarter to leave St. Paul with a 36-23 Victory.

The scoring started in the 1st quarter with 5:22 to play in the First, St. Paul stuck first on a 3rd and 12 run by Gage Sack breaking tackles enroute to his first TD of the season. Christian Lemburg's PAT was good and the Cats led 7-0 through the first quarter. The Indians got on the scoreboard with 11:06 to play in the half as QB Dominic Nowak found Cobe Wells across the middle for a 31 yard Touchdown pass. The PAT was no good and St. Paul led 7-6.

The Cats scored the next 2 touchdowns as Jadyn Thomsen broke a tackle and scored a 61 yard touchdown reception from Alex Meineke to give the Cats a 14-6 lead. 1:50 later Zandyn Weller fielded a punt at the St. Paul 25 yard line and turned it into a 75 yard Punt Return for a score. Lemburg's PAT was no good and the lead was 20-6 St. Paul.

Broken Bow put a drive together late by Fullback Ayden Clark scoring his first of 4 touchdowns on the night. The 2Pt conversion was good for Bow to cut the deficit to 6 at 20-14 going into the Halftime Break.

The Indian Defense forced a quick 3&Out to get the ball back just a minute into the 3rd quarter and Clark would get his 2nd touchdown of the night for Broken Bow to get their first lead of the night at 22-20 following a successful 2pt Conversion. St. Paul drove down the field and stalled out at the 4 yard line. Christian Lemburg successfully hit a 21 yard field goal from the right hash to give the Wildcats their final lead of the night at 23-22 with 11:56 to play in the contest. Clark would score touchdowns 3 and 4 late in the 4th as Broken Bow leaves St. Paul with their first win of 2024 with the 36-23 Victory.

St. Paul (0-3) will be at Amherst(2-1) Friday on Country 96 while Broken Bow(1-2) will be at Ord(0-3)

Jadyn Thomsen earns Runza MVP of the game with 6 receptions for 88 yards and 1 touchdown.
