Cats split Saturday Triangular on home turf.
Spring Baseball is rolling right along for St. Paul/Palmer as the Cats finally got their first taste of action at home hosing Aurora and Seward in a triangular at Grover Cleveland Alexander Field.
In the first matchup vs Aurora, The Cats trailed early but rallied to score six unanswered runs to go up 6-1 into the seventh inning. The Huskies made things interesting scoring four runs to cut the deficit to one but St. Paul/Palmer was able to force the third and final out with the tying run at second.
In their final matchup of the day versus Seward, the Cats once again trailed 1-0 early but rallied two runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. That lead lasted briefly as Seward came alive for a combined 8 runs from the second inning through the fifth which proved to be the difference maker as St. Paul/Palmer tried to rally in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring four runs but fell short in the seventh looking for two runs to tie the contest falling 9-7.
The split keeps the Cats below a .500 winning percentage at 3-4. St. Paul/Palmer is back on the road Tuesday at Centennial. The game will be played in Beaver Crossing on 97-3 the Wolf. Varsity at 4:30 p.m. with the JV to follow.
