Central City Centura Defeats St Paul Palmer In First Round Of State


St Paul Palmer Cats Baseball

(Papillion, NE) - St. Paul/Palmer lost to Central City/Centura 4-1 on Saturday at Papillion La Vista South High School in the first round of the Class C state baseball tournament. 

Central City/Centurawere the first to get on the board in the second when Quinn Jensen hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Christian Lemburg flew out, which helped St. Paul/Palmer tie the game at one in the top of the third.

Central City/Centuracaptured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third after St. Paul/Palmer committed an error, and Spensir Jaros doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Conner Erickson earned the win for Central City/Centura Varsity Kernels. The pitcher gave up five hits and one run over six innings, striking out five and walking none. Zandyn Weller took the loss for St. Paul/Palmer. The hurler went three innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking none. Colbyn Peters earned the save.

Lemburg led the team with one run batted in. Weller, Parker Lentz, Layne Baker, Jaydn Thomsen, Alex Meinecke, and Carter Hawley each collected one hit for St. Paul/Palmer.

Jaros, the number seven hitter for Central City/Centura Varsity Kernels, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Jaros and Kayden Morner each collected two hits for Central City/Centura Varsity Kernels. Central City/Centurastole five bases in the game. 

St Paul/Palmer will now take on Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer in an elimination game on Monday at 10:00 AM. Listen live on 103.1 FM KJ Country.
