Central Nebraska Regional Airport Announces Record-Breaking July

Central Nebraska Regional Airport

Grand Island, Neb. – Central Nebraska Regional Airport reported a total of 7,030 enplanements for the month of July making it the largest July on record for the airport. The previous record occurred in July 2016 with 6,829 enplanements.

Allegiant Air added a third flight each week from Grand Island (GRI) to Mesa Gateway (AZA) last December which spurred record breaking numbers almost every month this year. Due to demand, American Airlines, operated by SkyWest, issued larger jets to service GRI to Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) as well. The larger jets began August 17, 2025. The upgrade to a CRJ900 jet allows 10 more passengers per flight. This includes 12 first-class seats and 63 main cabin seats.

With the addition of the CRJ900 jet, Mike Olson, Hall County Airport Authority Executive Director, anticipates the record-breaking numbers will continue. Olson said, “Both American Airlines (operated by SkyWest) and Allegiant Air have more seats monthly compared to July of 2024. The additional seats have been added to meet increased demand. We want to thank our airline partners for their continued commitment in providing service to our growing market.”

Allegiant Air flies twice weekly out of Grand Island to Las Vegas (LAS) and Mesa (IWA). American Airlines flies twice daily to Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) allowing Grand Island area residents access to almost anywhere in the world from the Central Nebraska Regional Airport. To purchase flights for your next getaway to Mesa, Las Vegas, or Dallas/Ft.
