City of Hastings Independence Day Celebration at Brickyard Park postponed to July 11th

American Flag

The City of Hastings Independence Day celebration has been postponed until July 11 due to an unfavorable weather forecast.

The alternate celebration is one week after July 4 due to the availability of the firework display contractor. Festivities will still take place at Brickyard Park on West D Street. Food and drink will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. Musician Rascal Martinez will take the stage at 7 p.m. After the sun sets, we will light up the sky with our annual fireworks show.

Postponing the municipal fireworks display at Brickyard Park has no effect on the sales and use of personal fireworks, both of which are to end at midnight on July 4, according to city ordinance.

Hastings Fire & Rescue will be accepting unused private, commercial-grade fireworks for proper disposal through July 31 at either fire station, 1313 N. Hastings Ave., or 1145 S. Hastings Ave. The fireworks must be received in person by fire station personnel between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
