Cleavinger Signs Free Agent Deal with White Sox

Nebraska senior Grant Cleavinger signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox organization.

Cleavinger becomes the fifth Husker from this year’s team to continue with a Major League Baseball organization after Ty Horn and Carson Jasa were selected in the third round of the MLB Draft and Dylan Carey and Mac Moyer signed free agent contracts this week.

The southpaw appeared in 12 games for the Huskers in 2026, striking out nine and limiting opposing batters to a .125 batting average in 5.1 innings.

Cleavinger appeared in 41 games in his three seasons at Nebraska, posting a 1-1 record with a 5.79 ERA and 37 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .179 batting average across 23.1 innings.

Prior to Nebraska, Cleavinger played one season at Tulane.
