Creighton Baseball Downed at St. John's, 11-3

Queens, N.Y. -- Creighton Baseball dropped an 11-3 decision at St. John's on Saturday, May 2. The loss moved the Bluejays to 25-19 on the season and 10-4 in BIG EAST action, while St. John's climbed to 26-20 overall and 11-3 in conference play.

Trailing 2-0 as the game moved into the sixth, Creighton chased Red Storm starter Evan Chaffee with a one-out single from Rocco Gump, a walk to Isaac Wachsmann and an RBI single by Ben North to get Creighton on the board. With two out in the frame Connor Capece laced a two-run single to center off reliever Jack Nestler to put the Bluejays up 3-2.

St. John's, however, plated nine runs over the next two trips to the dish against the Creighton bullpen to earn the series win.

Bluejay reliever Eli Nissen took the loss (0-3), allowing four runs on four hits in one-third of an inning. Nestler picked up the win (2-0), limiting Creighton to three hits over the final 3.2 innings. 

The Bluejays and Red Storm conclude the three-game series on Sunday, May 3 with a 10 am (CT) start.
