Creighton Volleyball Earns 10th Straight Win

OMAHA, Neb. -- The No. 13 Creighton Volleyball team won its 10th straight match with a 3-0 sweep of Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon during the program's annual Pink Out match. Scores of CU's 19th straight sweep over Seton Hall were 25-21, 25-15, 25-16.

In search of a 12th straight regular-season title, Creighton (15-5, 8-0 BIG EAST) remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play at the midpoint of conference action. Seton Hall fell to 6-13 and is winless in eight league contests.

Creighton's middle blockers dominated the day, combining for 18 kills in 25 erorrless swings. Kiara Reinhardt had the majority of those kills with 10 kills in 15 swings, also adding a match-high four blocks. Nora Wurtz owned six kills in as many swings and also contributed four aces and three blocks, while Eloise Brandewie collected two kills and a block while playing only the first set.

Creighton hit .344 for the day, finishing with 46 kills, 30 digs, nine aces and eight blocks. Ava Martin led CU with 11 kills and freshman Abbey Hayes hit .471 while matching her season-high with 10 kills. Sydney Breissinger paced CU with 10 digs and Annalea Maeder registered 39 assists.

Seton Hall was led by eight kills from Sadie Reich and Rylee Nelson owned 13 digs. The Pirates had 26 kills, 30 digs, three blocks and hit .125, but did not record an ace.

The first set featured 16 ties and nine lead changes before the Jays pulled away with a 4-0 run on Maeder's serve to move in front 22-18. Reinhardt and Hayes combined to stuff Daria Safian on set point. Martin led CU with six kills and Maeder dished 14 assists in the opening frame.

Creighton used a 5-0 run on Breissinger's serve to move in front 13-8 in the second set and pulled away for a 25-15 win on a kill by Jaya Johnson. Five different Bluejays had exactly three kills in the second set while Johnson also contributed seven digs and two blocks. CU hit .379 in the second set.

Creighton posted a wire-to-wire win in the third set, breaking free from a 15-14 edge midway through the set with a 10-2 run to end the match.  Hayes had four kills in the third set and Breissinger collected all four of CU's digs in the finale as CU held The Hall to -.053 hitting.

The second half of BIG EAST play begins Friday when Creighton visits Providence for a 4 p.m. Central match that will be broadcast on ESPN+.
