Creighton Volleyball Signs Cal Transfer Annalea Maeder

OMAHA, Neb. --  Annalea Maeder has signed on the dotted line and will continue her volleyball career this fall with Creighton Volleyball. Hailing from Basel, Switzerland, Maeder has spent the past four seasons playing for the University of California, Berkeley, and will have one year of eligibility to play with the Bluejays after she arrives this summer.

A 6-foot-1 setter, Maeder has accumulated 2,759 assists, 809 digs, 123 aces and 117 blocks over 94 matches with the Golden Bears.

"I think Anna is a great setter, but she's also a great defensive player in both the front and back row," said Creighton head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. "By all accounts of her current team and opposing teams, she's a great teammate and leader and I know our team has really enjoyed getting to know her. I think she'll fit into our culture."

She earned ACC Setter of the Week honors following the first week last fall and had three double-doubles in her first five matches before missing the rest of the season due to injury.

Maeder was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2023, when she recorded 1,037 assists and ranked third in the Pac-12 with 46 aces. She notched 846 assists and 41 aces as a sophomore in 2022, and contributed 701 assists and 29 aces her freshman campaign.

Maeder was named 2020-21 Switzerland Youngster of the Year and made the 2020 Swiss Women's National Team. In the classroom Maeder was a microbial biology major at Cal and twice named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

Creighton finished the 2024 season with a 32-3 record and reached the Elite Eight for the second time. The Bluejays won their 11th consecutive BIG EAST regular-season title and finished the season ranked sixth in the year-end AVCA Top 25 poll.
