Crusader Boys Fall To Bergan In Centennial Championship
(Lincoln, NE) - The Archbishop Bergan Knights defeated the GICC boys basketball team on Saturday night at Lincoln Christian High School, 56-41, in the Centennial Conference tournament championship game.
The Crusaders held a 10-9 advantage going into the second quarter. The Knights then exploded to a 20-9 run in the second period of play, highlighted by back-to-back three pointers by Cale Sheets, who would have 14 points in the first half. Bergan would have a 29-16 lead at the break.
GICC would cut the deficit down to ten at the end of the third quarter, 40-30, after outscoring the Knights, 14-11. Bergan would then close out the game in the final quarter, 16-11.
In the girls' championship game, Lincoln Christian would defeat Hastings St Cecilia, 39-33.
Bergan moves to 18-0 on the season and will next be in action on February 3rd at Omaha Concordia. GICC slips to 16-3 and will be in action on February 5th, hosting Gothenburg. Listen live at 7:30 pm on 97.3 FM The Wolf.
