Driver Arrested for 4th DUI After Omaha Pursuit

April 24, 2025 (Omaha, Neb.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested one person following a brief pursuit in Omaha late Wednesday evening.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., a trooper saw a Dodge Dakota failing to maintain its lane on Highway 75, northbound near downtown Omaha. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated. The trooper initiated a pursuit.
With speeds of approximately 95 miles per hour, the vehicle continued driving recklessly for about two miles before slowing and exiting eastbound on Ames Avenue. The trooper successfully performed a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the pursuit to a stop.
Two passengers exited the vehicle immediately and cooperated with troopers. The driver initially refused to follow commands from the troopers. After a few minutes, he then exited the vehicle voluntarily and was taken into custody.
The driver, Matthew Silvers, 25, of Omaha, was arrested for DUI .15+ - 4th Offense, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, obstructing a peace officer, and failure to obey a lawful order. Silvers was lodged in Douglas County Corrections.
