Fatal Four-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80

On September 3, 2026, at approximately 10:38 p.m., deputies with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a four-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 276. The crash involved three passenger vehicles and a semi-truck.

Donald L. Wooley, 76, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was driving a Ford Taurus involved in the crash. Wooley was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, where he later died from his injuries. His family has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Nebraska State Patrol crash reconstruction personnel and the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office/Kearney Police Department Fatality Accident Investigation Team.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Nebraska State Patrol, Kearney Police Department, Kearney Volunteer Fire Department, and Good Samaritan EMS.
