[GRAND ISLAND, NE August 25, 2025]  Grand Island Tourism announces their remaining guided walking tours for this year.

Reservations are required, and spots are still available, for each of the September tours. Tour subjects are 1940s Railside, the Hargis House-Women’s Club and the surrounding neighborhood, and Sculpture Walk Railside.

“For all participants’ enjoyment, we try to limit the tours to 20 people and we provide listening devices so no one misses out on the information presented”, said Dana Jelinek, Grand Island Tourism Program and Outreach Manager.

The remaining tours include 1940s Railside (west side) on September 8 at 6 p.m., Hargis House Neighborhood on September 14 at 10 a.m., and Sculpture Walk Railside on September 20 at 10 a.m.. The last tour takes elements of each of this year’s 1940s Railside tours and puts them together in a hybrid tour. That tour is on September 22 at 6 p.m.

Three of the tours showcase Grand Island’s history. The Railside district is Grand Island’s historic downtown, which experienced significant business and change during the 1940s, especially during WWII. The Hargis House and the surrounding neighborhood date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, with many businesspeople building homes in the area. The remaining tour takes guests on a walk to see the sculptures in Railside and shares stories of the pieces and artists.

Reservations are required. Although the tours are at no cost, freewill donations are requested for the local nonprofits that helped make them possible.

For more information or to reserve a spot on a tour, contact Jelinek at 308-382-4400 or [email protected].
