FREE Green Dot bystander intervention training for the public at Good Samaritan–multiple sessions available
KEARNEY–CHI Health Good Samaritan, in partnership with the S.A.F.E. Center, is pleased to announce upcoming training focused on community violence prevention. The public, alongside Good Samaritan staff and volunteers, are invited to participate in a free session.
The Green Dot program is a nationally recognized bystander intervention strategy designed to reduce power-based personal violence, including partner and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, stalking, and bullying. The evidence-based approach equips individuals with the skills and motivation to intervene in situations that could lead to violence.
“Green Dot aims to shift community norms by encouraging proactive behaviors that model and endorse non-violent norms. This proactive approach helps create a culture where violence is not tolerated creating safer, healthier and more respectful environments,” says Nikki Gausman, S.A.F.E. Center executive director and Green Dot trainer.
The training sessions will take place at Good Samaritan in the West Tower Classroom, located near the hospital gift shop. For ease of access, participants are encouraged to park in Lot C and use Door 14, or Lot D and enter through the West Tower Entrance, Door 15.
