Fremont Nips Home Federal - Season Comes To An End
(Elkhorn, NE) - The Grand Island Home Federal baseball team fell to Fremont RVR Bank 3-0 on Monday afternoon in an elimination game of the American Division state baseball tournament at Frerichs Field in Elkhorn. Fremont would score all three of the game's runs in the top of the fifth inning. GI Home Federal would have six hits in the game. Grayson Sack & Trent Verplank would lead the way with two hits each in the game followed by a hit a piece from Barrientos and Ethan Foley. Ethan Coslor would get the starting nod on the mound for GI going four innings giving up five hits and three runs with two strikeouts and four walks in the outing.
Grand Island Home Federal's season ends as a memorable 2024 summer campaign ending with a record of 36-12. Finishing A7 district champions, Cornhusker League champions, Brickyard Tournament Bellvue Tournament champions, and also finished in the final four of the Mike Peterson Lincoln tournament.
