G.I. man arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl

GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island police arrested James Speer, 53, of Grand Island at his apartment at 9:21 a.m. June 25 as a search warrant was being conducted at his residence on West Second Street

Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott said that police have been investigating the case since it was reported approximately two months ago. The 13-year-old reported that Speer had sexual contact with her.

Speer and the girl are related. Sexual assaults have occurred for up to the last nine years and have occurred in Grand Island and other states.

Speer was arrested for felony first-degree assault of a child, felony third-degree sexual assault of a child, felony first-offense resisting arrest and misdemeanor obstruction of a police officer.
