GI City Council Filing Deadlines Approaching

Grand Island, Neb. — Another election year is underway in Grand Island, and with it comes five council seats up for election in 2024. One seat for each of the city’s five wards are available, and there are deadlines to be aware of for those interested in filing for re-election or as a non-incumbent. Those deadlines are:

Thursday, Feb. 15 - Incumbent Filing Deadline

Friday, March 1 - Non-Incumbent Filing Deadline

The city is also currently accepting applications for various boards and committees within the city. Currently there are three openings on the Citizens Advisory Review Committee, two openings on the Occupation Tax Oversight Committee (Food and Beverage) and one opening on the Animal Advisory Board. Once the filing deadlines have passed, focus will then shift to Nebraska’s Primary Election on Tuesday, May 14. The Nebraska General Election follows on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
