GI Home Federal Downs Millard South 6-3 in Hastings


(Hastings, NE) - Grand Island Home Federal Bank was victorious against Millard South 6-3 on Friday at Duncan Field.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank opened the scoring in the first after Bryson Walker grounded out, scoring one run.

A walk by Brock Cushing extended the Grand Island Home Federal Bank lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank added one run in the third after Blake Caspar singled down the left field line.

Grayson Sack earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank. The starter surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking two. Jackson Corey took the loss for Millard South. The starter went five and one-third innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits, striking out three, and walking two. Gavin Ruether tossed one inning of scoreless ball for Grand Island Home Federal Bank in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out none and walking none.


Grand Island Home Federal Bank collected 13 hits in the game. Caspar drove the middle of the lineup, leading Grand Island Home Federal Bank with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Gabe Ruiz led Grand Island Home Federal Bank with four hits in four at-bats. Ian Arends and Walker each collected multiple hits for Grand Island Home Federal Bank.


Logan Wick, Owen Quakenbush, and Carson Derr each drove in one run for Millard South. Blake McAndrews went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Millard South in hits. Millard South turned one double play in the game.
