(Hastings, NE) - Grand Island Home Federal Bank defeatedHastings Five Points Bank 9-1 on Tuesday night at Duncan Field, thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning. Gabe Ruiz was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Gavin Ruether drew a walk, scoring one run, Brody Davidson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Kingston Loften singled, scoring two runs; and Brock Cushing singled, scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ruether walked, and Davidson singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Grand Island Home Federal Bank added one run in the third after Ruether hit a sacrifice fly.

Grayson Sack earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal Bank 18U. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run over five innings, striking out one and walking two. Nick Mousel took the loss forHastings Five Points Bank. The hurler went two innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking three.

Davidson, Carson Washburn, Loften, Cushing, Ethan Mader, and Bryson Walker each collected one hit for Grand Island Home Federal Bank 18U. Davidson and Loften each drove in two runs for Grand Island Home Federal Bank 18U. Ruether led Grand Island Home Federal Bank with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Cushing stole two bases. Grand Island Home Federal Bank was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Walker had the most chances in the field with four.

Zane Thomsen led the team with one run batted in. Owen Ablott ledHastings Five Points Bank with one hit in two at-bats. Hastings Five Points Bank was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ablott had the most chances in the field with four.

With the win, GI claims the Cornhusker League Championship for the third year in a row. Grand Island is now 21-8 on the season and will be back in action on Sunday, July 5th, playing a doubleheader at Elkhorn North.
