GI Home Federal Wins Season Opener, 10-3

(Columbus, NE) - Grand Island Home Federal easily dispatched Post 84 Columbus Cornerstone on Wednesday, 10-3.

Grand Island Home Federal opened the scoring in the second after Ian Arends doubled, scoring two runs.

Post 84 Columbus Cornerstone tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a triple by Brody Lindhorst, and a sacrifice fly by Wyatt Recek.

Grand Island Home Federal jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when an error scored one run, Ethan Mader doubled, scoring two runs, and Gavin Ruether singled, scoring one run.

Grayson Sack earned the win for Grand Island Home Federal. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Matt Krueger took the loss for Post 84 Columbus Cornerstone. The pitcher went six innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking six. Braedyn Towler appeared in relief for Grand Island Home Federal.
