Offense: Kidnapping / Child Abuse
Victim: 10 yr old male Incident #: L25083081
Offender: Dennis Acker
Date and Time of Incident: 8/27/25 @ 13:49
Location of Incident: 611 N Adams St
Brief Narrative: On 8/27/2025 investigators assisted DHHS with the removal of a child who is currently in the State of Nebraska's custody. The child was placed with his father, Dennis Acker at 611 N Adams St. Dennis would refuse to open the door and turn over his child to DHHS upon request. Dennis was observed to be belligerent and irrational, leading to him brandishing a knife in the direction of officers while inside the home with his child standing nearby. Dennis subsequently forced the child into the back bedroom and refused to release the child after hours of negotiations refusing to follow officer’s orders while placing the child in a dangerous situation. Dennis proceeded to open the front door with knife in hand while child was still inside the home. A search warrant was obtained, and Dennis would later be placed under arrest. The child was safely released to DHHS. Dennis Acker was arrested for Kidnapping, Intentional Child Abuse/ No Injury and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Location of Incident: Within City Limits
Brief Narrative: On 8/27/2025 officer responded to an area in Grand Island reference a custodial dispute. A Sexual assault was reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Offense: Identity Theft
Victim: 70 yr old female Incident #: L25083045
Date and Time of Incident: between 7/15/25 & 8/27/25
Location of Incident: 316 E 8th St
Brief Narrative: Victims came to the police station and reported that someone without their knowledge or permission used the male victim identity to create a fake bank account and then access the victim's savings account and took all the money out of it. This was done all online. The bank has restored $3,000 to their savings account. Case is open.

Brief Narrative: On 08/28/25 at 1932 hrs, officers responded to a residence in Grand Island NE reference a juvenile having a suspicious bruise on their back. Case is open.

Offense: Vehicle Theft
Victim: 35 yr old male Incident #: L25083046
Date and Time of Incident: between 8/26/25 & 8/27/25
Location of Incident: 1616 N Vine St
Brief Narrative: Officer responded to a theft of a yellow 2022 Honda Grom motorcycle from an apartment complex parking lot.
