GICC Football Season Preview

(Grand Island, NE) - The Central Catholic football team will look to improve on a 2-7 season last year as the Crusaders get set for year two under Head Coach Jeff Ashby. Five of the seven losses for the Crusaders were by 13 points or less last year. GICC returns Grayson Sack at quarterback. The now junior threw for over 1,600 yards last season for 14 touchdowns along with 390 yards rushing with two touchdowns on the ground last year as a sophomore. Sack will also be a key part back on defense for the Crusaders on the back end in the secondary. The offensive line for the Saders will be key as they all return including Will Maser, Brandon Cloud, Trey Renz, Tongun Tongun, and Kelton Kearns. In the wide receiver department for GICC back for Coach Ashby is Graham Stava who had 136 yards receiving last year with 14 receptions. Connor Haney hauled in 24 passes a season ago with 3 touchdowns on 393 yards. Jack Alberts will also be a key offensive weapon for GICC returning as Alberts had 33 receptions last year with 397 yards and 3 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign.
