GICC Names Tim Buettner As New Girls Basketball Coach

Tim Buettner was introduced in front of the girls basketball team on Wednesday morning at GICC.

(Grand Island, NE) - Grand Island Central Catholic announced Tim Buettner as the new head girls basketball coach for the Crusaders. Buettner will take over for Kevin Mayfield, who stepped down after this past season. 

Even though Buettner has never been a head coach for a high school team, his knowledge of the ins and outs of the game is far superior. Buettner has been a part of the game at a coaching level for 30 years. He was an assistant coach at Norfolk High with Ben Ries and was a part of the Panthers' run to a state championship in Class A in 2017. 

Coach Tim Buettner is a co-founder of Nebraska D-League and Director of Skill Development. A Certified Skills Trainer with Impact Basketball, Coach Buettner has been conducting individual, small group workouts, and clinics for the past 10 years.

The intensity and high energy that Coach Buettner brings to practices and workouts are unmatched. The league comprises youth players from across the state of Nebraska, which started in 2015 with three teams but has expanded to 75 teams under Buettner's leadership.
