GIPD Arrests Grand Island Man in Series of Burglary Investigations

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department arrested 39-year-old Tristan J. Bush of Grand Island on Sunday, January 18 in connection with multiple burglary investigations.

 

Officers were investigating two burglaries that occurred early Sunday morning at two separate bathhouse and laundromat locations in Grand Island involving damaged gaming machines.

 

Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 4:41 a.m.: A gaming machine was damaged beyond operation during an attempted break-in.


Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 5:50 a.m.: A gaming machine was damaged beyond operation and the cash box was forcibly opened with cash stolen.
 

During the investigation, officers identified a person of interest and located a possible vehicle involved in the incidents. While observing the vehicle from outside, officers noted potential evidence inside. The person of interest (Bush) was later observed entering the vehicle and was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency.

 

A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, where officers located additional drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and items labeled with Advantage Car Care. These findings were connected to a prior burglary reported on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at approximately 5 a.m., in which multiple items and cash were stolen from Advantage Car Care.

 

A second search warrant was executed at Bush’s residence and detached garage. During the search, officers located additional burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, stolen property from Advantage Car Care and U.S. mail connected to a burglary at the U.S. Post Office.

 

On Thursday, January 8, at approximately 8 a.m., the U.S. Post Office on North Webb Road reported a burglary in which property inside the building was damaged and U.S. mail was stolen from the facility and multiple mailboxes.

 

Bush was arrested on multiple charges including burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief, theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. Investigators with the Grand Island Police Department continue to review the case for additional related offenses and are working to return recovered property to its rightful owners.
