GIPD Awarded Funding for “Make It Click” Enforcement Campaign
Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Police Department has been awarded $15,330 in grant funding for the national “Make It Click” High Visibility Mobilization, which will take place from May 15-31.
The funding, provided through a Nebraska Department of Transportation Office of Highway Safety mini-grant, will allow the department to conduct selective overtime enforcement focused on increasing seat belt use and child passenger safety restraint compliance.
During the campaign period, officers will conduct targeted patrols aimed at reducing serious injury and fatal crashes by encouraging proper seat belt use. The “Make It Click” campaign is a nationwide effort designed to raise awareness about the importance of seat belt use and to reinforce compliance through increased enforcement visibility.
The Grand Island Police Department remains committed to enhancing roadway safety and protecting the lives of all who travel throughout the community.
