GIPD Investigation Leads to Arrest in Tucson

Grand Island, Neb. — A Grand Island Police Department investigation into the alleged sex trafficking of a minor has resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old Tucson, Arizona man on 60 Hall County charges.

The investigation began in June 2025 and was led by GIPD Investigator Cayla Larkins. During the course of the investigation, Daniel Ray Contreras was identified as a suspect and investigators developed information that ultimately led to an arrest warrant being issued in Hall County. Contreras was recently located in Tucson and taken into custody with assistance from the Tucson Police Department’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit, U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security Investigations.

The investigation involved extensive cooperation between GIPD and local and federal law enforcement partners, including the Tucson Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI and U.S. Marshals.

“This case demonstrates the importance of persistence and collaboration when investigating crimes involving the exploitation of children,” Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney said. “We are grateful for the work of Investigator Larkins and for the assistance of our law enforcement partners who helped locate and apprehend the suspect.”

As the investigation continues, law enforcement has identified concerns that there may be additional minor victims in the Tucson area. Anyone with information regarding Contreras or this investigation is encouraged to contact law enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing.
