GIPS Names Kelli Wemhoff Assistant Principal at Dodge Elementary for 2025-26

GRAND ISLAND (Neb.) -- Grand Island Public Schools (GIPS) is pleased to share that the team at Dodge Elementary will be growing next school year.

Mrs. Kelli Wemhoff will be serving as the Assistant Principal of Dodge Elementary for the 2025-26 school year.  GIPS is excited to have her continue making a positive impact in our district by joining the good work taking place at Dodge.

Mrs. Wemhoff is familiar with educational spaces in the Grand Island community.  This year she has served as the Principal of Seedling Mile Elementary.  Prior to joining GIPS, Wemhoff served as a first grade and second grade teacher at Northwest Public Schools for twelve years in addition to coaching for volleyball and track.

This transition for Mrs. Wemhoff joining Dodge came after the decision was made not to operate Seedling Mile for the next school year.

The goal all along was for Mrs. Wemhoff to stay with GIPS in a leadership capacity.  Looking at the opportunities to impact student and teacher growth, she felt transitioning to Dodge to remain connected to many of her current Seedling Mile families was a perfect fit.

Although the landscape will be a little different for Mrs. Wemhoff, she will be a welcome familiar face for Seedling Mile families who will be joining Dodge Elementary as well.  Reflecting on the opportunity, Wemhoff affirmed her love for teaching and for bringing vibrant learning opportunities to students.

“I am extremely excited to join the spectacular learning community at Dodge Elementary next year.” Wemhoff shared.  “I look forward to building meaningful relationships and embracing new opportunities. I am thrilled to be able to transition with our Seedling Mile families and be a friendly face for them. Together, as Dragons, we can achieve incredible things.”

While Mrs. Wemhoff will transition to her new role as Assistant Principal over the summer, she is dedicated to finishing the current school year strong as Seedling Mile Principal. Both she and the Seedling staff are committed to a seamless transition to ensure continued support for students and staff.

Angie Eberle, Dodge Principal, welcomes Mrs. Wemhoff to the Dodge family affirming the continued good work ahead for the Dragons.

“I am very excited for Mrs. Wemhoff to join our team.”  Eberle said.  “She is a positive and knowledgeable leader who will help Dodge work towards our vision.”

With Dodge set to absorb the Seedling Mile attendance area next school year and welcome new students and families, Matt Fisher, GIPS Superintendent, appreciates the continuity opportunity Mrs. Wemhoff will bring by joining Dodge.

“Having Mrs. Wemhoff join the Dodge staff as the Assistant Principal will provide additional support for all the outstanding work taking place in that building.” Fisher affirmed.  “It will also assure those students who are transitioning from the Seedling Mile building will have a familiar face to greet them and make sure they get off to a great start at Dodge.”

As Mrs. Wemhoff prepares for her new role alongside Mrs. Eberle, we will be sure to provide opportunities for Dodge families and staff to meet her before the start of next school year.

GIPS looks forward to finishing this school year strong and to seeing what’s ahead for 2025-26!
