GRAND ISLAND (Neb.) — Grand Island Public Schools is pleased to welcome Mrs. Kelli Wemhoff to the district!

Mrs. Wemhoff will be serving as the Principal of Seedling Mile Elementary. GIPS is excited to have her join the district and to step into a strong leadership opportunity at Seedling Mile Elementary school.

Mrs. Wemhoff is a familiar face to the Grand Island community and brings a wealth of public school experience to GIPS. She grew up in Grand Island and has been serving at Northwest Public Schools for the past twelve years. As both a first and second grade teacher at 1-R School, Mrs. Wemhoff also coached volleyball and track, as well as helped lead the high school FCA. Mrs. Wemhoff has had multiple opportunities to serve on district leadership and school improvement teams to support teachers and students through curriculum changes, PBIS initiatives, and the continuous school improvement process.

Although the landscape will be a little different with Seedling Mile operating as a 1st - 5th Grade school for 2024-25, Wemhoff sees it as an opportunity to shape vibrant learning and support staff and families in new ways.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to serve and grow students and staff at Seedling Mile!” Wemhoff said, “Everyone has been very supportive as they welcome me into the district. I have had the honor to meet some of the Seedling Mile staff and families. It is apparent what a great learning community I am joining. I cannot wait to be part of this spectacular family and share the stories of every student, every day, a success!”

Mrs. Wemhoff will assume the Seedling Mile Principal role this summer as Mrs. Jennie Ritter will be stepping-in to lead the education efforts at Knickrehm Elementary.

“During the time that I served as superintendent for the Northwest district I had numerous opportunities to observe Mrs. Wemhoff’s excellent teaching.” Matt Fisher, GIPS Superintendent, said, “She always demonstrated a real passion for students and strong leadership skills.  We are very excited to have her share those traits with our students and staff.”

As Mrs. Wemhoff prepares for her new role, GIPS will be sure to provide opportunities for staff, families, and students to meet her before the next school year.

GIPS looks forward to seeing the positive impact Mrs. Wemhoff will bring to our students, staff, and families.

Welcome to Grand Island Public Schools, Mrs. Wemhoff!
