Grand Island Area Farmers Market Participating in Go Big Give to Support Market to Meals Program 

Grand Island, NE – – The Grand Island Area Farmers Market is proud to announce its participation in Go Big Give, a community-wide day of giving dedicated to supporting local nonprofits. Funds raised during this event will directly benefit the market’s Market to Meals program, which focuses on increasing access to healthy food while reducing food waste in the community. 

The Market to Meals program provides Healthy Food Vouchers to local individuals and families, allowing them to purchase fresh, nutritious produce & other food products directly from farmers market vendors. In addition, the program enables the Market to purchase unsold food products at the end of each market, which are then distributed to local food pantries – ensuring that fresh food reaches those who need it most instead of going to waste. 

“We are excited to participate in Go Big Give and invite the community to support a program that directly impacts food access and sustainability,” said Misty Schaecher, Executive Director. “Market to Meals not only helps families access fresh, healthy food, but also supports our local vendors and reduces food waste.
