Grand Island Baseball Blanks Lincoln North Star

(Grand Island, NE) - The Grand Island Senior High baseball team snagged a 9-0 win over Lincoln North Star on Tuesday night at Ryder Park. The game was played in GI due to North Star not having a field available to play on. 

The Islanders would have 9 runs on 10 hits and would have 4 errors in the game. North Star would have 5 runs and 3 errors. Miles Nelson would go 6 2/3 for the Islanders, giving up 5 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts on 75 pitches. Brady Douglas would come in to pitch for the final out of the game. Sam Dinkelman would lead the way at the plate for the Islanders with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Fellow senior Broxton Barrientos would have 2 hits and 3 RBIs. 

Grand Island is now 15-6 on the season and will be back in action on Thursday, May 1st at Lincoln Southwest (14-8). It will be the 2nd meeting of the year between the Silverhawks and Islanders. The two matched up in the Heartland Athletic Conference semi-finals on April 16th as LSW defeated the Islanders 13-2.
