Grand Island Baseball falls to Lincoln East, 7-2
(Lincoln, NE) - The Grand Island Senior High baseball team lost to Lincoln East 7-2 on Monday.
A groundout by Cade Anderson put Lincoln East on the board in the bottom of the first.
A double by Huxton Katt, and a single by Bryson Rhodes helped Lincoln East extend their early lead in the second.
Kalai Larsen earned the win for Lincoln East Spartans Varsity. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Kingston Loften took the loss for Grand Island Varsity Islanders. The pitcher went three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out one and walking three.
Gavin Ruether provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Grand Island with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Grand Island Varsity Islanders turned one double play in the game.
Katt, the number eight hitter for Lincoln East, led the way with four runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Rhodes stole two bases. Lincoln East ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Lincoln East turned two double plays in the game. Lincoln East didn't commit a single error in the field. Landon Moser had the most chances in the field with eight.
Grand Island (3-3) welcomes Kearney (4-4) on Tuesday, March 31st for their next game.
