Grand Island Launches Interactive Cemetery Map to Help Visitors Locate Loved Ones

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce the launch of a new interactive Grand Island Cemetery map designed to make it easier for visitors to locate their loved ones, explore burial records and navigate the cemetery.

The new system allows visitors to simply scan a QR code with their smartphone to access an interactive online map and searchable database. Users can search names, view grave locations on a map and access cemetery records directly from their mobile device while visiting the cemetery.

City officials say the project is intended to improve accessibility for families and visitors while helping preserve and honor the history of those laid to rest in the cemetery.

“This tool provides a more convenient and meaningful experience for visitors,” Grand Island Cemetery Superintendent Mark Sands said. “Whether someone is visiting family, researching local history or exploring the cemetery grounds, this map helps connect people with the information they need in a simple and respectful way.”

A total of nine signs featuring the QR code and instructions have been installed throughout the cemetery to assist visitors in accessing the service. The interactive cemetery map can also be accessed online at www.giparks.com/cemeterymap.
