Grand Island Parks & Recreation Now Hiring Lifeguards

Grand Island, Neb. — With temperatures on the rise, the Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department is kicking off its 2025 hiring cycle for lifeguards.
Both Island Oasis and Lincoln Pool are officially accepting lifeguard applications. You can apply in person at the Grand Island Parks & Recreation offices or digitally at www.giparks.com/lifeguard.
Starting pay is $15/hour (more for additional experience) and training will be provided by GIPR staff. Those who apply will learn the ability to swim 300 yards continuously using both the crawl stroke and breaststroke, tread water for two minutes using only the legs and to pass a prepared swim test.
The seasonal job offers flexible hours, which vary Monday through Sunday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., while also providing valuable career experience. The duration of the position is Memorial Day through the end of summer.
