Grand Island Parks & Recreation Now Hiring Lifeguards

Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting applications for lifeguards for the upcoming summer season at Island Oasis Water Park and Lincoln Pool.

Lifeguard positions play a critical role in maintaining a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all guests. Team members are responsible for monitoring pool activity, enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies when needed. The seasonal positions offer flexible scheduling throughout the week, making them a great opportunity for students and those looking for summer employment. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour, with the potential for increased wages based on experience and certifications.

Grand Island Parks & Recreation provides free lifeguard training to all hired applicants. Training includes water rescue techniques, CPR and first aid, along with the skills necessary to successfully complete a swim test and certification requirements. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, lifeguards develop important life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork and decision-making in high-pressure situations.

The position typically runs from Memorial Day through the end of the summer season, with varying hours available between morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
