Grand Island Public Library Invites Community to “Find Your Joy” During National Library Week


Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library is inviting the community to celebrate National Library Week from April 19-25 with a full lineup of activities centered around this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy.”

National Library Week is an annual celebration that highlights the vital role libraries play in bringing communities together, inspiring lifelong learning and providing access to resources for people of all ages. From books and digital collections to free Wi-Fi and engaging programs, libraries continue to serve as essential community hubs.

The Grand Island Public Library offers a wide range of services and spaces designed to educate, inspire and connect residents. Amenities include a Genealogy Research Room, study and meeting rooms, an Art Alcove Exhibit Area, a Children’s Discovery Center, teen gaming and seating areas and a Makerspace that offers tours, hands-on programming and equipment access.

The library also provides book clubs, a Seed Library and Plant Exchange, Summer Reading Programs and digital resources available to the community. Throughout the week, the library will host a variety of special events and activities for all ages, including:

-Monday, April 20 — Pajamatime Storytime at 6:15 p.m. in Bookingham Palace, inviting families to enjoy an evening of stories and connection
-Tuesday, April 21 — Staff Appreciation Luncheon, provided by the Library Foundation and hosted by the Library Board
-Wednesday, April 22 — Patron Appreciation Day, featuring a scavenger hunt available at the Circulation Desk with prizes for participants of all ages
-Thursday, April 23 — Volunteer Appreciation Day, recognizing the individuals who support library programs, outreach efforts, home delivery services and more
-Friday, April 24 — Book Sale Promotion, encouraging visitors to browse and purchase available titles
 
A special “Find Your Joy” display will also be available throughout the week, highlighting the many ways the library supports creativity, learning and community engagement. Whether preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family or enjoying retirement, the Grand Island Public Library provides resources and programming to support every stage of life.
