Grand Island to Welcome International Delegation from Midlands African Chamber and Global Agribusiness Leaders
Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce are honored to welcome approximately 40 dignitaries and guests from various African nations to Grand Island on Thursday, October 30.
The delegation, led by the Midlands African Chamber (MAC) in partnership with the International Agribusiness Initiative (IAI), will visit Grand Island to meet with local leaders, tour regional industries and experience firsthand the city’s innovation in agriculture and manufacturing.
Their visit is part of the International Agribusiness and Manufacturing Fair (IAM Fair) — a two-day global event taking place October 29–30. The IAM Fair unites leaders from Africa and the Midwest to forge transformative partnerships in crop production, livestock development, agricultural technologies and climate-resilient food systems — unlocking
new opportunities for investment, innovation and food security.
During their time in Grand Island, the international guests will explore collaboration opportunities across the agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. The tour will highlight Grand Island’s leading industries and showcase Nebraska’s role as a global leader in agricultural production and value-added manufacturing.
“We are excited to welcome our international guests to Grand Island as it has long been a hub of manufacturing and agribusiness leadership,” said Mary Berlie, President of GIAEDC & Chamber. “This visit highlights the power of partnerships that extend beyond borders — connecting Nebraska’s agricultural excellence with global markets eager to grow and innovate.”
The visit serves as a valuable exchange of ideas and best practices, reinforcing Nebraska’s commitment to global engagement and economic cooperation. By connecting with business leaders from across Africa, Grand Island aims to expand its global relationships while promoting innovation, trade, and mutual prosperity.
