Grand Island Utilities Warns Customers of Utility Scam Calls

Grand Island, Neb. — Grand Island Utilities is reminding customers to remain vigilant after receiving reports that scammers are once again impersonating Grand Island Utilities Customer Service representatives.

According to reports, callers falsely claim customers are due a credit or refund from Grand Island Utilities and then attempt to obtain utility account information. Grand Island Utilities will never contact customers by phone to request account information in order to issue a credit or refund.

Customers who receive suspicious calls should not provide personal, financial or utility account information. Instead, they should end the call and contact Grand Island Utilities directly using the official phone number listed on their utility bill or on the City of Grand Island's website to verify any claims.

Anyone who believes they may have been the target of a utility scam is encouraged to report the incident to local law enforcement. Grand Island Utilities encourages customers to share this reminder with family, friends and neighbors to help prevent others from becoming victims of fraud.
