Hastings Schedules Comprehensive Plan Update
The public is invited to a Comprehensive Plan update from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 at Library Meeting Room B.
Development Services Director Kevin Kubo and City Planner Ember Batelaan will provide a presentation looking at updated population, housing, and commuter data, as well as providing updates to the future land use map.
The Hastings City Council approved Resolution No. 2025-13 on March 24, 2025 to adopt the 2025 City of Hastings Comprehensive Plan. This is a “living” policy document that helps guide the community, developers, the Planning Commission, and the City Council for future development. It is considered a living document because it should be readily changed and updated when major community changes occur.
The updates address concerns that the county, Community Redevelopment Authority and community members have brought to the Development Services Department in the past year. The changes are necessary prior to the zoning updates, since the zoning will be the way to implement the comprehensive plan and future land use map.
