Heather Henson Brings Immersive Environmental Arts Experience to the Library
Hastings Public Library is proud to welcome Heather Henson—puppet artist, philanthropist, and daughter of Jim Henson—for a one-of-a-kind, all-ages event at 4 p.m. at the library on Monday,
March 16.
Through puppetry, masks, movement, music, and interactive storytelling, participants will journey through local waterways and global ecosystems while embodying cultural keystone animals such as whales, cranes, sturgeon, and bison. This immersive experience invites the community to explore seasonal rhythms, planetary movement, and the powerful connection between the water systems in our own backyards and the ocean beyond. Blending playful expression with environmental awareness, the program encourages participants to reconnect with the land through creativity and shared artistic exploration.
This special event is presented through Green Feather, a multi-platform nonprofit founded by Henson in 2020 that encompasses IBEX Puppetry, Handmade Puppet Dreams, Puppet Slam Network, and Henson’s educational and philanthropic initiatives. With roots dating back to
2000, Green Feather’s mission is to promote the health and healing of the planet through artistic spectacle, puppetry, and immersive cultural and environmental arts education. Learn more at www.greenfeather.org.
The library extends its sincere thanks to the Crane Trust for helping to facilitate this partnership and bring this inspiring opportunity to our community.
This event is free and open to all ages. For more information, please contact the library or visit www.hastingslibrary.us.
