LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophomore Carson Bohonek recorded the first brace of her career to lead Nebraska soccer to a convincing 3-0 victory over the Omaha Mavericks on Thursday night at Barbara Hibner Stadium.
Bohonek, a native of Bettendorf, Iowa., scored goals in the 43rd and 84th minutes to lead Nebraska (2-1-2) on offense. The brace marks the first of her career and first for a Husker since Kayma Carpenter did so against Kansas State on Sept. 7, 2025.
Reese Snowden also scored for the Huskers, finding the top left of the goal from deep in the 23rd minute. The Huskers limited Omaha (1-2-1) to two shots, posting their first shutout of the season.
The Big Red also finished with a season-high 12 corner kicks while limiting Omaha to zero. Nebraska fired a season-high 13 shots on goal, applying constant pressure to the Maverick defense. Avery Gillahan recorded the win in the net, saving both shots on goal from Omaha.
Nebraska will travel to Manhattan, Kan., to take on the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday, Aug. 30. The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. (CT) and will stream on ESPN+.
